Liz develops process improvements to our project management delivery system focused on the specifics of the client’s context. She also provides management oversight and professional guidance to our project management team of Senior Project Managers and Project Managers, as well as providing project management services on our more complex projects. Liz helps owners manage their vendors to bring in their projects on budget, on time, and as specified. She places a special emphasis on relationship management with collaborators, vendors and other stakeholders.

Liz comes from a background of sixteen years of experience working in facilities management for performing art spaces, theatre construction, and theatre consulting. She’s sat in OAC meetings as an operator, a contractor, a design consultant, and an owner’s rep. This grounds her practice in the realities and norms of the construction industry and enables her to connect with any team member to understand their unique perspective and challenges.

Notable project work includes The Tianjin Julliard School, Rice Opera Theater, MoMA, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Flea Theater, The Round House Theatre in Bethesda, and the David. H. Koch ballet theater.

What's the greatest lesson you've learnt as a Theatre Consultant?

There’s no such thing as a small theatre design project.

What first sparked your love of theatre or performing arts?

At 12, building scenery for my middle school’s production of West Side Story gave me my first taste of a making something together with a big diverse group of people with different skills and talents. I’ve been pursuing the dynamic feeling that only artistic collaboration can provide ever since. My favourite Technical Direction memories are upending our two performance spaces at The Flea Theater’s old home at 20 Thomas Street to create Ed Iskander’s immersive 6 hour production of These Seven Sicknesses, and tearing down half of our lighting grid to create a system of suspended floating platforms in Future Anxiety. As a Theatre Consultant, I always love the first site visit on a project, it’s a privilege to get to see the inner workings of our client's artistic homes.

What qualities should a 'great performance space' have?

Community, constraints and creative freedom.
