Main Responsibilities To provide project management and consultancy on all aspects of theatre design, specialising in the stage lighting and audiovisual systems for the performing arts.
Qualifications BA Honours in Peace Studies City & Guilds Electrical Installation parts 1&2 PGCE in Further Education MFA in Lighting Design – University of Cincinnati Professional member of Association of Lighting Designers
Experience Paul has fifteen years experience working in lighting design, technical/production management, and production electrics. He has worked in many different venues ranging from St Donats Arts Centre in Wales to touring with Opera North and being resident at The Banff Centre, Canada.
Teaching Paul has taught and administered Technical Theatre and Lighting Design courses at sixth form, vocational, professional, and higher education level since 1989 while located in the UK, USA, and Canada. Since 2006, Paul has been a Lecturer in Lighting & Sound at the University of Kent.
Lighting Design Paul’s lighting designs include many productions in his capacity as resident designer, lighting student and then lecturer. Professional designs include: Sweet Nothing for A2 at Hoxton Hall, London; Mark Murphy at Battersea Arts Centre, London; Young People in Dance at The Banff Centre, Canada.
Consultancy Work In-house specification, design and/or project management of performance and teaching spaces for St Donats Arts Centre, University of Leeds (Bretton Theatre and initial work on PCI Leeds), CSU Chico (California), and the University of Kent.
