Project summary
The London premiere of Don John, by Cornwall's Kneehigh Theatre in association with The Royal Shakespeare Company and Bristol Old Vic, is a lust-fuelled journey into the darkest depths of ‘the winter of discontent’, riffing on Mozart’s Don Giovanni and redolent with the company’s trademark wit, physical inventiveness and visually arresting style. The production is the latest in an innovative series of collaborations between artists, producers and architects Haworth Tompkins, exploring how BAC’s Grade II listed home, the old Town Hall, can be used in new ways, creating an innovative 21st Century performance venue that embraces the character and strengths of the 19th Century building. |
The show is staged in a brand-new 500 seat theatre in BAC’s Grand Hall. Charcoalblue provided concept designs for the new theatre, along with detailed plans and sections showing the seating layout and sightlines, as well as advising on the truss configurations over the stage, and designing outline stagelighting and audiovisual systems.
